The mission of the Gallipolis Municipal Court Probation Department is to:
The Probation Department accomplishes its mission by using a number of resources according to the offender’s level of probation (intensive reporting probation, basic probation, monitored time/internet reporting). The department provides electronically monitored house arrest, continuous alcohol monitoring, substance use monitoring, community service, referrals to treatment, counseling, and other behavioral and mental health services, and operates specialized drug court and mental health court dockets to assist offenders in reintegrating into the community as productive citizens.
The Probation Department also operates a pre-trial services program that is designed to intervene with moderate to high-risk defendants immediately upon their involvement in the criminal court system. The department strives to quickly connect offenders to behavioral health providers and community-based programs designed to reduce criminal thinking. The goals of pre-trial services are to reduce the number of defendants who reoffend; reduce the number of defendants who fail to appear for court; and reduce the number of defendants who abuse illegal substances.
