Probation, more formally referred to as Community Control, is an alternative to incarceration. This means that if you are convicted of a criminal offense or a serious traffic offense, the Judge may sentence you to probation or a combination of community-based sanctions, rather than jail, provided that incarceration for the specific offence is not mandated by law. The Judge’s sentencing decisions are guided by a number of factors set forth in the Ohio Revised Code.
The mission of the Gallipolis Municipal Court Probation Department is to:
The probation department operates a number of community corrections programs, including a specialized docket (Recovery Court) and pre-trial services, to accomplish the objectives set by the Court.
The Gallipolis Municipal Court Probation Department is committed to maintaining evidence-based programming that promotes positive change and enhances public safety. Our officers work collaboratively with several local behavioral health organizations to maximize the positive impact on clients under our supervision.
